Dog Bark Collar Types and Their Differences

The bark collar is a popular alternative training device for safely guiding and training your four legged buddy to minimize and control his barking mannerism. It is situated and attached to the neck. Equipped with batteries and a microphone, it can detect and identify barking and throat vibration and then activates a certain type of correction system. The purpose of the device is to give the dog a certain kind of negative response the moment he barks. This negative stimulus then gives the dog an ugly reason not to unwontedly bark again. However, it should be noted that it is no way harmful to the animal.

There are numerous reasons to justify the act of barking. Dogs bark because they want to express their emotions. These emotions include fear, stress, and separation anxiety. Additionally, barking can also be caused by anger towards territory dispute. And there are also instances when the dog is just craving for attention.

Talking about bark collars, there are several corrective methods to make them work. The first type of correction attached to a bark collar is spray-based. This kind of device uses a substance called citronella – which, when sprayed, provides a very unfavorable sensation to the dog. When the microphone attached to the strap detects continuous barking, the device then sprays citronella to the animal’s snout, giving it a lesson not to bark further. Citronella spray is effective because the stinging sensation effectively deters the pet dog from barking.

The next type of bark collar is a lot more imposing. It uses static electricity instead of a spray. The metal probes powered by batteries provide a slight electrical stimulus that the dog will surely feel whenever he begins to bark excessively. As soon as the microphone detects vibration from the throat due to barking, the dog is then subjected to some sort of electrocution, but a very mild one. Surely, the dog will remember it the next time it barks.

The last kind of dog bark collar is the one that uses a safe stimulus – sound. Similar to the previous two, this one uses a microphone as well and when the same transmits that the dog is barking again, a kind of annoying noise is then sent to the pet’s hearing range, effectively discouraging it to bark furiously again.

So if you think you’re experiencing the same problem, you have to realize it’s time to get a dog bark collar. It doesn’t really matter what type of correction you want as long as you intend to stop your dog from disturbing the entire house and neighborhood again.
